Free vs Format-Bound mode

When to target a specific broadcaster and when to keep things open.

Two modes. Pick based on where you're in the project lifecycle:

Free mode

No broadcaster target. The pipeline produces a generalist exposé with recommendations at the end (which two or three broadcasters this might fit). Use when:

  • You're still deciding the broadcaster.
  • You want a neutral first draft for a pitch meeting deck.
  • You're exploring whether an idea has legs at all.

Format-Bound mode

A specific broadcaster profile is injected into every pipeline stage. The exposé comes out matched to their slot lengths, editorial tone, visual expectations, and stated preferences. Use when:

  • You know the target broadcaster.
  • You're responding to a commission call.
  • You need an exposé the editor can read and pass along without translation.

The Format-Bound output is almost always more useful. The Free mode is a fallback for when you genuinely don't know.
